Diversity

Wright, Finlay & Zak (“WFZ”) is a nationally certified Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (“WBENC”). WBENC’s national standard of certification is implemented by the Women’s Business Enterprise Counsel-West and involves a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women. By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs.

In 2020, WFZ became a proud member of NAMWOLF (National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms). NAMWOLF is a non-profit trade association comprised of a select group of preeminent minority and women-owned law firms and other interested parties through the United States. Their core mission is to expand diversity in the legal profession by developing long-term partnerships between corporations and minority and women-owned law firms. To gain admission, NAMWOLF performs independent research on a prospective firm, focusing on a firm's minority or women-owned status, reputation, references, and practice area expertise, among other criteria.

WFZ was a proud contributor and member of the American Mortgage Diversity Council (“AMDC”).

WFZ was recognized in the July 10, 2023 issue of the Orange County Business Journal as the third-largest women-owned law firm in Orange County (40th largest among all business types) in their annual List of Women-Owned Businesses.*

Compared to the national averages reported in the 2021 Report on Diversity in U.S. Law Firms by the NALP (“National Association for Law Placement”), the percentage of WFZ’s women partners, women lawyers, and Latinx lawyers exceeded NALP’s nationwide averages.

WFZ has developed a comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion Policy that aligns its values and beliefs for a diverse and inclusive workplace with its day-to-day activities and interactions.

*Based on a survey of participating Orange County women-owned businesses with at least $5M in annual revenue.
