After helping found Wright, Finlay & Zak, Jonathan M. Zak transitioned to an Of Counsel role in 2015. Mr. Zak has practiced as a litigation attorney in California for almost 30 years with an emphasis on aggressively handling litigation matters on behalf of institutional and private lenders, loan servicers, foreclosure trustees, credit unions, title insurers and commercial and residential real estate brokers. Mr. Zak has successfully handled numerous complex litigation matters in both federal and state court, through trial and appeal.

Mr. Zak helps clients navigate through the rapidly changing legal and legislative landscape impacting the mortgage banking industry. He has also been a vocal lobbyist and advocate on behalf of various industry organizations. Mr. Zak frequently lectures at industry events throughout the country and provides in-house training for clients on topics such as emerging legal issues, legislative updates and litigation prevention practices, and defense strategies. He has authored a number of articles for industry journals with an emphasis on mortgage lending and default related litigation issues.

Mr. Zak is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Legal and Financial Network (ALFN), as well as serving as the board liaison for its Commercial Litigation Committee. He is also an active member of the United Trustees Association (UTA), the California Mortgage Bankers Association (CMBA), the California Mortgage Association (CMA) and the California Land Title Association (CTLA). Mr. Zak is also a former member of the Board of Directors for Golden State Bank, and is a member of the California Bar Association-Real Property Practice Group and Orange County Bar Association.
